So Here’s Us…
a busy family in the middle of the frustrating, scary, wonderful chaos that we call life.
In the midst of it all I’ve made a startling discovery: I’m a writer. What was once an occasional hobby has become a necessary outlet. So, a few times a month (or more) I pour it out for the world to see…from schmaltzy to smart-ass, the lessons I’m learning, and the things that make me laugh, and cry, along the way.
Life is messy and I hate when people shy away from that fact. My life has been messy. Teenage marriage, moving far from home, stillbirth, high risk pregnancies, another stillbirth, Down Syndrome, navigating the adoption system… and our latest drama – our daughter’s cancer.
Here’s the highlights: At 19 I married my high school sweetheart. Cliché and sappy, yes, but he is my best friend and we grew up together… actually, we’re still growing up together. We have 3 daughters and 1 son to help with that.
Some days it feels like we’re barely holding it together. Some days it all falls apart. That’s life here on the raggedy edge.

I was thinking Firefly before I scrolled down and saw the comments. Congrats on being Freshly Pressed. The Browncoat and the “Christ lover” parts got you a new follower. I don’t promise to keep up though. I follow way more blogs than I have time to keep up with. It’s a character flaw, I think. 🙂

I was looking back on my memories and I saw your post about your daughter’s photo being stolen and used , in a terrible way, with out your permission . . . I have to admit when I first saw this I actually became physical ill . . . I was completely and totally outraged, overwhelmed and disgusted. . . My heart was broken in a million pieces for you, your beautiful ” EXTRA SPECIAL ” daughter and your family. . .
My son ,Abel, is my miracle. . I didn’t know that he had Trisomy 21 until he finally opened his eyes on the 2nd day . . .I knew in a second 2 things, one, His name would be Abel because, From my lips to GOD’S ear, he would be able to do whatever he wanted to do in his life despite having Down Sydrome. ( Honestly, to me it is just words, a diagnosis ). . .2nd GOD for whatever reason had chosen to give me a miracle . . .Abel has truly lived up to his name. . . My beautiful boy has had to fight for his life to many times. . . I just wanted to let you know you are not alone . . . As mothers of Extra Special Kiddos we need to stick together. . .Because this world is so ugly and so cruel at times . . .You all will continue to stay in my prayers. . . MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND YOURS
